Who are we?

Through mentorship, community outreach, and fundraising, China Care Bruins aims to foster lasting relationships among Chinese American and other transracial/transcultural international and domestic adoptee mentees and their families with UCLA student mentors, among our student volunteers, and between our members and the community!

Executive Directors’ Note | Welcome to the China Care Bruins (CCB) website! We both joined CCB in our freshman year of college at UCLA, and since then, CCB has given us so many opportunities to affect the community around us through mentoring and interacting with Chinese adoptees. The many people involved with the club have become family to us, and we are enthusiastic about this upcoming school year!

CCB is a mentorship program between UCLA students and Chinese adoptees who live in Southern California. We hold two to three events here on the UCLA campus every quarter. Through our buddy system, we strive to create a community for the youth to feel comfortable being themselves and meet other adoptees and their families.

As we enter the 14th year of China Care Bruins, we are both excited for the memories ahead of us!

Best,
Sadie & Ronald

UPDATES | 14th year of China Care Bruins!

We can’t believe it’s been 14 years since UCLA China Care Bruins started! When we started out, we had about 7 little buddies and 10 college volunteers. Now look at us! Our organization has expanded to about 40 little buddies and 55 college volunteers. China Care Bruins has since added fundraising, outreach, and social aspects along with our mentorship concentration in the last 14 years. Here’s to another great year and the years to come!

OneSky Beijing Volunteer TripWe are so excited to announce that two of our very own members, Wendy Ao and Sadie Larson, volunteered in a OneSky medical care home for young children in China this summer, Summer 2018! Wendy Ao is a graduating Biology major at UCLA and has been involved in China Care Bruins for the past three years. She is excited about attending this trip and working with the children our organization has been supporting. Sadie Larson is a third year Electrical Engineering major who has a special connection with the children in China Care Bruins through her own adoption experience. In addition, fellow CCB member Michelle Vu had an amazing time when she went last summer, Summer 2017! The trip meant an incredible deal to our members. Read more here!
